Needle Exchange Program and Naloxone Kits

The Needle Exchange Program is available in communities across the province to prevent the spread of Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV – diseases that can be transmitted by sharing equipment to inject drugs. Naloxone kits are also available at all sites to prevent opioid-related overdoses.

The program is a harm reduction initiative and offers services such as:

  • needle exchange with safe needle disposal
  • immunization counselling and immunization
  • vein/wound care
  • sexual health counselling
  • health teaching to support optimal health including referrals to other care providers and detox information
  • naloxone kits for people who are at risk of opioid-related overdoses
