Creating jobs for Islanders
Lance MacNeill knows first-hand how an internship can provide a great start for post-secondary graduates in Prince Edward Island.
MacNeill applied for an internship last year with Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy to learn more about civil engineering and make connections with local industry.
“I now work on capital projects during the construction phase. This includes monitoring the work, dealing with day-to-day issues that pop up and working with clients and contractors,” said MacNeill. “This job has given me a growing understanding of the construction industry in PEI and I highly recommend applying for an internship, especially if this work is in your field of interest.”
This year, Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy is offering nine internships which include the following six-month positions:
- Bridge Engineer Intern
- Survey/CADD Intern
- Visitor Services Intern
- Building Inspector Intern
- Construction Technologist Interns – two positions
- Materials Lab Technician Interns – three positions
“Introducing recent grads to great jobs in Prince Edward Island helps our province thrive and we benefit from the new perspectives they bring to government,” said Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Paula Biggar. “We were pleased to have many interns from last year’s program stay with government and we look forward to the energy and great ideas of even more young Islanders this year.”
Apply by March 18, 2019.
