There are various options available to access healthcare in PEI, including virtual care, phone services, and in-person options for primary care, mental health, and pharmacy services.
Tele-Care 8-1-1
Get 24-hour phone support from a nurse who can refer you to additional community services.
Pharmacists
Experiencing a cold, UTI, cough, nasal congestion, sore throat, or another common ailment? Pharmacists can now prescribe treatment options. Many prescription refills can also be done at your local pharmacy.
Mental Health and Addictions
Open Access Counselling Clinics provide mental health and addictions support without needing an appointment. You can also call the Mental Health Access Line at 1-833-553-6983 anytime.
Walk-In Clinics
Walk-in clinics are available across the province to anyone needing medical assistance.
Virtual Care
The Virtual Care Program allows you to speak to a health professional via computer, phone, or tablet.
Specialty Clinics
Some clinics are available to all Islanders no referral needed, including:
- Sexual Health, Options and Reproductive Services (SHORS)
- Cancer Screening Clinics
- Public Health Nursing Clinics

The Home Care Program provides services in your home, if you:
- need support to continue living safely at home,
- have been released from hospital and are recovering from surgery or an acute medical condition, or
- have an ongoing health issue requiring more care than you or your family can provide.
