Here in Prince Edward Island, you will find work that is challenging and where you are making a real difference for families and communities. Our health care system is recognized for its integrated community-based approach to health care and its province-wide health information system.

Health PEI is responsible for the operation and delivery of publicly funded health services across the province. This crown corporation is governed by a board of directors which ensures that approved programs are delivered in accordance with the direction of the Minister of Health and Wellness.

Health PEI  has two acute care facilities. Queen Elizabeth Hospital is PEI’s largest multi-service acute care facility with 243 beds and is located in the province’s capital city, Charlottetown. It provides both community services and specialized provincial services, and supports both in-patient and outpatient care. It is home to PEI Cancer Treatment Centre, Ambulatory Care Centre, Provincial Stroke Unit, Provincial Rehab Unit, and more.

Prince County Hospital is PEI’s second largest acute care facility with 110 beds and is located in Summerside. It provides a wide range of in-patient, outpatient and community-based health and wellness services.

There are four community hospitals: Souris Hospital, Kings County Memorial Hospital, Community Hospital O'Leary and Western Hospital, that provide a range of services which vary between facilities, including acute care, extended care and community-based services.

PEI’s provincial in-patient psychiatric facility, Hillsborough Hospital, is located in Charlottetown.

PEI has five Primary Care Networks spread across the province with health centres in each.

PEI has nine public long term care facilities and five home care offices throughout Prince Edward Island.

One of PEI's greatest assets is the people. Prince Edward Island residents are known as being some of the friendliest people in Canada. And, PEI health care providers are known for their tremendous everyday efforts to provide quality, safe, and appropriate care for Islanders.

Prince Edward Island has a range of health positions available.
