Recreational harvesters of fish and shellfish are being reminded to familiarize themselves with the regulations for these activities.

Prince Edward Island has many beautiful areas throughout the province where recreational harvesting of fish and shellfish is safe and enjoyable.

Federal regulations include the types of fish and shellfish that can be harvested recreationally, limits on the amounts and size of species that can be collected, the time of year the species can be harvested, and the specific areas where recreational harvesting can occur.

Island fishermen and women work very hard; by working together and ensuring everyone is knowledgeable of the current regulations we can make certain everyone can enjoy the high-quality Island seafood loved around the world, while supporting the sustainability of the industry and our environment.

Islanders and tourists who harvest species for recreational purposes are invited to contact the Department of Fisheries and Oceans for more information on the regulations pertaining to the recreational harvest of any fish or shellfish species in Prince Edward Island.

For further information, visit the DFO website about Recreational Fisheries.
