Traffic impacts from Hermanville turbine repairs
Wind turbine blades will be transported from Borden to Hermanville in the coming days.
There will be six blades transported. Turbine 3 had blade damage in December 2024 and will be repaired this year. The remaining blades will be kept as spares to allow for future repairs to happen more quickly by preventing delays due to the long lead time required to get blades to PEI.
Although Hermanville Wind Farm has required repairs, it has generated over 930 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity over the last 11 years and generated over $76 million in revenue for the province.
Drivers may encounter slow moving vehicles and some delays at roundabouts or displaced left turns along the route.
Signage, traffic control, and highway escorts will be in place when needed to help minimize disruptions and keep everyone safe. Information on traffic impacts is available at 511.gov.pe.ca
The PEI Energy Corporation thanks the public for their patience during this time.
