The Elementary Math Assessment (EMA) measures math knowledge and skills learned up to the end of Grade 6.

What areas of math are covered in the elementary math assessment?
The assessment will cover four areas of math: number, patterns and relationships, shape and space, and statistics and probability. Your child’s teacher may use a sample math assessment in the classroom to discuss effective strategies and help students feel comfortable with the assessment format.
How long does it take to write the elementary math assessment?
The assessment is administered in the classroom over a 2-day period in June. It will take about 1 to 1.5 hours each day to write.
How should my child prepare for the elementary math assessment?
To prepare for the assessment in advance, your child can review all math concepts learned in class this year. The best preparation for any assessment is arriving at school well rested and ready to participate.
