What is “TechNTalk”?
“TechNTalk” refers to the series of digital literacy events for those 55 years and older across Prince Edward Island. These events aim to empower older adults with the fundamental skills needed to communicate effectively in today’s digital world, while helping to reduce feelings of social isolation. TechNTalk is hosted by the Office of Seniors (Department of Social Development and Seniors) throughout the summer in various communities across the province.
What happens at these events?
As a participant (55 years and over), you will be presented with a general overview of device usage and paired with knowledgeable support personnel on a one-to-one level.
The TechNTalk session will answer the questions you have about:
- Setting up and/or operating your specific device(s);
- Communication options (e.g. email, text, Facetime) and social media (e.g. Facebook, Instagram); and,
- Broadening your knowledge of the internet (e.g. how to use search functions, navigating your internet browser).
Please note that these events are not meant to address areas of questions pertaining to sensitive information (such as banking, Maple, CRA accounts etc.).
Prior to leaving, you will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire about your experience.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
We ask that you bring the device(s) that you need support with, as well as their charger(s).
Will it cost be anything to attend a TechNTalk event?
All TechNTalk events are free to attend.
Do I need to register in advance?
