Government has officially proclaimed the month of August as Acadian Heritage Month in PEI.

Acadians have greatly contributed to the Island’s social, cultural and economic fabric. The vitality, resilience and diversity of the Acadian community is being recognized throughout August with activities across the province, in addition to National Acadian Day celebrated on August 15.

“As minister responsible for Acadian and Francophone Affairs, I am delighted to proclaim August as Acadian Heritage Month in PEI to recognize Acadian culture, history, language and traditions. By dedicating an entire month to Acadian heritage, we’re recognizing the many contributions made by Acadians who have helped build our province for generations and continue to have a positive influence on the Island.”

— Minister Gilles Arsenault
