Construction on the Cornwall Perimeter Highway project will extend east of the Maypoint intersection this week (October 31 to November 5) as Capital Drive is prepared for grading and paving.

Paving will begin around the new roundabout at the Maypoint Road and Trans-Canada Highway intersection. Curbing equipment will be active installing curbs along both sides of the highway.

• The direction of traffic may alternate between the temporary roads and the Maypoint roundabout. Travelers should watch for directional signs when posted.

• Travel on the Trans Canada Highway will be maintained in both directions but may be reduced to one lane in each direction at times.

• Motorists should consider using alternative routes when entering and leaving Charlottetown, especially during morning and evening commuting hours.

Drivers are asked to be alert and to operate with concern for the safety of workers, pedestrians and their fellow motorists. The Department of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy appreciates the patience of the traveling public during delays caused by construction.

Phase 1 of the Cornwall Perimeter Highway is proceeding on schedule, with completion expected in mid-to-late November.
