
Nominations for the annual Senior Islanders of the Year awards are being accepted until July 15.
The annual awards recognize the significant contributions of Island seniors in community life including: volunteerism, artistic achievement, fund raising, community participation, career achievements, fitness/recreation and other activities. To nominate someone, download the form at Senior Islanders of the Year or call 1-866-770-0588.
"The Senior Islanders of the Year award highlights the important role that Island seniors play in community and family life," Family and Human Services Minister Tina Mundy said. "These awards are a great opportunity to celebrate the contributions older adults make and recognize leaders and mentors of our communities."
To be eligible, nominees must be:
• a current resident of Prince Edward Island;
• aged 65 or older; and
• willing to be nominated.
Nominations will be reviewed by members of the Prince Edward Island Seniors' Secretariat.
Maria Bernard, Alice Taylor, Bill Hogg, Verna Barlow, and Annie Lee MacDonald were honored with the award in 2016.
