The PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation invites everyone to attend Elmira Railway Museum’s 50th Anniversary Celebration on Wednesday, August 6, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The rain date for the celebration will be Friday, August 8 at the same time.
Address:
- Elmira Railway Museum, 457 Elmira Road, Elmira RR 1, PE C0A 1K0
For many years, Elmira Station served as the end of the line for Prince Edward Island's railway.
Today, the fascinating story of railroading on the Island is depicted through old photographs, maps and cultural objects. Visitors can also experience the historic Elmira Railway through replicas of the station master’s office and a ladies’ waiting room.
Join the celebration and enjoy all the site has to offer:
- Ride into the past on their miniature trackless train, railway speeder, and trolley
- Train and station history interpretation with a costumed guide
- Holman's ice cream (for sale)
- Cake (free!)
- Family-friendly games and activities
- Selfie station
*Regular rates apply to all attractions.
“For fifty years, the Elmira Railway Museum has brought our rich railway history to life for Islanders and visitors of all ages,” said Zack Bell, Minister of Fisheries, Tourism, Sport and Culture. “We are thankful to have the dedicated staff, volunteers, and community members who help preserve and share the museum’s history. We hope everyone takes an opportunity to come and experience the stories, sounds, and spirit of the museum in this milestone year.”
