As provincial road crews continue clearing debris from roads, ditches and curbs, debris removal services are now being expanded to include clean-up around homes.
“We know Islanders need help safely removing larger debris from their yards. The province is engaging provincial road crews - and private contractors if necessary - to expand debris removal services Island-wide for those in need.”
- Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Steven Myers
Islanders who need help cutting up fallen trees on their property and/or moving large debris curbside can contact provincial Highway Maintenance dispatch to register.
- Prince County: (902) 888-8275
- Queens County: (902) 368-4770
- Kings County: (902) 652-8960
If the dispatch number is busy and you are connected to voicemail, please leave a detailed message including your location and contact information.
“Island-wide debris clean-up is expected to take several weeks, so we appreciate the patience of homeowners during this province-wide clean-up effort,” added Minister Myers. “I assure Islanders, we will be around to help, but it may take some time.”
For Islanders wishing to drop off debris at Island Waste Management Corporation (IWMC) drop-off sites, free drop-off has been extended until September 30, 2019.

- Island-wide pick-up may take several weeks.
- Debris should be bundled and placed near the road following IWMC guidelines:

- Each item (or bundle) must be less than 50 lbs and be 4 ft. or less in length
- Do not use solid-coloured or blue plastic bags (or feed bags) for cleanup material.
