Islanders can save money instantly and help the environment when they buy energy-efficient products ranging from light bulbs to refrigerators.

From September 27 to November 3 Islanders are eligible for instant rebates in-store on select energy efficient products through efficiencyPEI’s Instant Savings Program. Rebates on energy-efficient appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines are also available year round.

“We are happy to partner with efficiencyPEI to help promote energy efficient options for Island households. The rebates help save our customers money while reducing their energy consumption,” said Charlottetown Home Hardware Manager, Jamie Lewis. “The rebates are applied at the cash register and no application is needed.”

Lewis sees customers take advantage of the discounts on all kinds of things like LED light bulbs and larger things like appliances. He said the rebate campaign helps Islanders be more aware of product options that can save energy.

“Switching to energy-efficient products is key to reducing a home’s energy consumption, and rebates are a great opportunity for Islanders to make smart energy choices for their home,” said Mike Proud, senior manager of energy policy and programs at efficiencyPEI.
