The University of Prince Edward Island’s board of governors welcomed new members this month as the school welcomed its new and returning students.

James Bradley, Bertha Campbell (re-appointment) and Brian Thompson joined the board in September. Engage PEI helps Islanders volunteer for more than 70 provincial government agencies, boards and commissions.

“Islanders’ commitment to their community never ceases to impress,” said Premier Wade MacLauchlan. “The collective knowledge and expertise that they bring to our government agencies, boards and commissions helps make big things happen on our Mighty Island. I encourage Islanders from across the province to put their name in the hat and help to make Prince Edward Island a better place for everyone.”

Some of the boards currently seeking new members are the:

•    Acadian and Francophone Community Advisory Committee;

•    Legislative and Confederation Centre Public Library Trustees, and

•    Youth Futures Council.

Up to 20 vacancies become available every month. For a full list of current vacancies, and to apply, go to www.princeedwardisland.ca/engagepei-vacancies.
