Completion of the boardwalk at Souris Beach will provide a safe and accessible place for people to enjoy the scenery and amenities.
The project includes a 1,500 foot extension to the existing boardwalk, a seawall, expanded parking area, playground upgrades, a splash pad, washroom upgrades and five new retail shops.
“This project is a great addition to existing facilities at Souris Beach,” said Brian Deveau, co-chair of the Souris Beach Boardwalk Committee. “Many volunteers from throughout eastern Kings worked together on this expansion that will greatly benefit the whole area and beyond.”
The Souris Beach provides a safe, active and environmentally and commercially sustainable recreation park for residents and visitors. It is the gateway to eastern Kings County, and during the peak tourist season over 500 cars a day stop at the beach.

The project was funded by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, the provincial government and the Town of Souris. Total cost of the project is just over $400,000.
