Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick partner to reduce internal trade barriers
Premier Rob Lantz and Premier Susan Holt have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that strengthens collaboration between Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick on interprovincial trade and labour mobility.
The agreement reflects shared priorities- reducing red tape, recognizing equivalent standards, and improving the ability of workers and businesses to operate freely between provinces. It aligns with PEI’s Interprovincial Trade and Mobility Act, which came into effect in 2025.

The MOU establishes a collaborative framework to recognize equivalent certifications and standards, streamline regulatory processes, and reduce administrative barriers for workers and businesses moving between the two provinces.

- Total trade between the two jurisdictions was valued at over $1.2B
