Queen Elizabeth Hospital responding to school bus accident; Code Orange called
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is responding to a school bus accident and has called a Code Orange meaning a response to a large number of patients. The accident involved Bus 49.
The children who were on the bus are being transferred to hospital as a precaution and are all doing well. Two of the children may have more serious injuries that may require more medical attention, but they are stable.
We ask that only immediate family of the children attend the emergency department to avoid crowding.
Anyone who is not experiencing an emergency, such as those with colds, minor symptoms, or prescription refills, are asked not to go to the emergency department.
Further updates will be provided as they become available.
Health PEI routinely practices for this kind of situation and is well prepared to respond.
