Island youth who’ve struggled with addiction, mental well-being, and other challenges will benefit from provincial support for recovery services offered by the Reach Foundation.

Founded in 2013, Reach – an acronym for recovery, employment, assistance, courage, and hope – provides a variety of recovery, employment and mental health supports for youth who struggle with any number of issues. It focuses on individual recovery, building a community of support, and creating a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment to help youth navigate forward. The Foundation also provides hands-on training to build employment skills through its social enterprises, which include bicycle repair and soap making.

“The Reach Foundation’s programming has supported hundreds of Island youth, offering vital assistance and empowering them during their most challenging times. Through counselling services, peer support, skill development, and employment services, Reach provides the tools needed for youth to recover and thrive.”

— Minister of Social Development and Seniors Barb Ramsay

More than $104,000 in annual funding support is provided to Reach through the Department of Social Development and Seniors.  This funding supports the transportation-related needs of clients of the organization who are engaged in employment and pre-employment programming.

“The funding support provided by the province has been essential to the delivery of our services to some of the Island’s most vulnerable youth. We look forward to a continued partnership that will help ensure our programs have the greatest positive impact moving forward.”

— Reach Foundation President Cheryl Roche

Through the Department of Social Development and Seniors, the Province provides over $20 million in annual funding to organizations that deliver services to vulnerable Islanders including residential services, accessibility supports, transportation, day programming, advocacy, and recovery services.
