Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan partner to reduce internal trade barriers

Premier Rob Lantz and Premier Scott Moe have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen economic ties and improve labour mobility between Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan.
The agreement supports a shared commitment to reducing interprovincial trade barriers and aligns with PEI’s Interprovincial Trade and Mobility Act. It provides a framework for greater cooperation between the two provinces, focused on recognizing equivalent standards, streamlining regulations, and improving access to employment and business opportunities across jurisdictions.
“Saskatchewan and PEI understand that when provinces work together, the entire country benefits. This agreement is about building trust, creating opportunity, and making it easier for people and businesses to thrive no matter where they’re located.”
— Hon. Rob Lantz, Premier of Prince Edward Island
“Saskatchewan is standing strong amidst the trade challenges we’re currently facing. Our province remains committed to deepening interprovincial collaboration and further enhancing trade, investment, and labour mobility, so that we can continue to build a strong economy that delivers for the people of Saskatchewan. Today’s MOU between Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island is just one more way we are strengthening economic ties across the country.”
— Hon. Scott Moe, Premier of Saskatchewan
This agreement is one of several MOUs PEI is signing across the country to encourage smarter regulation, reduce duplication, and better support Canadian workers.
